However, if you fail to properly store your perfume collection, this could result in it becoming spoiled much sooner than you might expect.

1. Clean Your Perfume Bottles
If you’ve been keeping your perfume bottles out of their boxes, your first step will be to give them a proper clean before you pack the perfume collection away into storage.
Using a damp cloth, remove any dust or dirt from the perfume bottles. Once you’ve carried out this step, you’ll need to carefully dry each bottle, as any moisture could result in your perfume being spoiled over time.
This step might not be necessary if your perfume bottles haven’t been out of their packaging for a long period of time but, generally speaking, this is a good precaution to take when it comes to storing them long-term.

While it might be tempting to store your perfume collection on display on a shelf, this is terrible for your collection, albeit being pretty to look at.

4. Store Your Perfume Collection In A Temperature-Controlled Room
You will also need to store your perfume collection in a temperature-controlled room.
This is important to protect the delicate balance of notes in your perfume, as extreme temperatures can cause the quality of your perfume to deteriorate.
Storing perfumes in a storage facility isn’t recommended due to their large alcohol content, making them highly flammable. Additionally, their scent can attract bugs and rodents in such storage facilities.
As such, a dark, cool location, such as the back of a wardrobe in a spare room, is the best place to store your perfume collection.
In the same breath, you’ll need to make sure the room is dry, as humidity can also damage your perfume by causing chemical reactions to occur, which in turn breaks down the structure of your perfume’s scent.
Bearing this in mind, you never want to store your perfume in a humid room, such as the bathroom, as this can reduce its lifespan significantly.
5. Regularly Check On Your Perfume Collection
Last, but not least, you will need to regularly check on your perfume collection.
While you’ll likely be doing this anyway when you use your perfume, checking on your collection is important to ensure that you spot any signs that your storage solution isn’t quite right.
So, whether your perfume collection is becoming discoloured, or the temperature of the room feels too hot, by checking on your collection you will be able to make the necessary adjustments to store your perfumes properly before it’s too late.
