Areas of your house you need to focus on
The key areas of your house you need to focus on are:
- Fixtures & Fittings
- Appliances
- Self-Assembly Furniture
- Clothing, bedding and linen
- Attics
- Food
- Garden and Garage
1. Fixtures & Fittings
These should always be prepared before the arrival of your removal team. We advised wrapping items such as pictures and mirrors in bubble wrap for protection and then neatly stack them. We can provide wrapping materials if required. Fixtures and fittings are usually very delicate items and particularly difficult to replace. That’s why it’s important to hire professionals that know how to transport these items properly.
2. Appliances
All electrical items should be disconnected before the arrival of your removal team. We suggest that freezers and fridges are cleaned out thoroughly and completely emptied before the day of the move.
It is also worth checking the situation regarding white goods in your new household. Some people will leave a dishwasher or a similar specifically sized appliance in their previous home as it may not fit their new one. You should firstly, check what the previous owners might be leaving so you can either highlight that you don’t want them or dispose of your own appliances properly. Secondly, it would be very forward-thinking to measure up the areas where your appliances will be. This can insure that either they fit or you have time find replacements.
3. Self-Assembly Furniture
Here at Falconer Removals and Storage, we do offer to dismantle and reassemble your furniture however this must be arranged prior to the move in the quotation process. It can be rather stressful to dismantle what you have, pack it up in an organised fashion and then rebuild it at your new home likely without the original instructions. If it’s something complicated, best leave it to the experts.
4. Clothing/ Bedding/ Linen
Chest of drawers can be moved full as long as the contents is comprised only of clothes and other soft materials. We can also provide wardrobe boxes where you can hang your clothes and they can be easily transferred. All other soft material items should be packed into boxes, suitcases, bags etc.
5. Attics
Employees at Falconer Removals & Storage are prohibited from entering loft or attic rooms due to insurance policies.
Please ensure you move all contents into an accessible room before your removal team arrives to ensure nothing is left behind.
6. Food
You should sort through your food items before the removal day as we cannot allow any items of food into storage. When packing your food items be sure to fill your boxes to the brim so that you avoid crushing and smashing.
7. Garage and Garden
Items such as sheds, playhouses and swing sets can be moved by our removals team, however, they will need to be dismantled before your moving day. All tools should be properly cleaned and packed together to assist with the removal on the moving day. There are certain items that our removals team are prohibited from handling due to insurance. You can find out more about this on our website.
