With a range of premium and high-street skincare brands on the market, you might have a collection worth hundreds of pounds that needs to be properly packed to ensure your skincare collection isn’t at risk of leaking or being damaged.

To pack skincare for moving house, you will need to:
- Sort through your skincare

1. Sort Through Your Skincare
Before you can begin packing your skincare, it’s important to sort through your skincare to decide what to keep.
It’s easy to accumulate a large amount of skincare, but you don’t want to pack anything that’s unnecessary.
As such, it’s important to go through your collection of skincare products to determine what you’d like to pack, what could be donated, and what needs to be thrown away. After all, you likely won’t want to keep a cream with a single use left.
While some charities will accept unopened skincare products, not all of them do, so be sure to call ahead to find out. Alternatively, you can give anything you don’t want to friends and/or family members.
Make sure all of your skincare products are tightly shut before moving onto the next stage to minimise the risk of leakages.

2. Remove Your Skincare Essentials
Once you’ve decided what you’d like to keep and what to donate, it’s time to remove your skincare essentials from your collection and pack a separate bag.
This is to ensure you have access to them during the moving process and aren’t left without the essential products required to clean and hydrate your skin. This will undoubtedly differ from individual to individual, but will likely include the basics of your skincare routine.
At the minimum, you’ll want to keep a cleanser, moisturiser, and lip balm to hand, but some skincare fanatics might also want to include a toner and a serum.
That said, your specific skincare essentials will depend on you and your skin.
3. Bubble Wrap Glass Jars
From moisturisers to body lotions, many premium skincare products come in glass jars that will require a little extra care when moving house.
To protect them, you will want to ensure that you bubble wrap them beforehand.
Tape the corners to ensure they’re fully protected and so the bubble wrap isn’t at risk of coming loose on the move.
4. Remove Any Flammable Products
You will also need to remove any flammable products, as these shouldn’t be placed in the removal van.
For instance, some skincare formulas contain paraffin, making them flammable. This is true of some products that work to treat skin conditions like eczema, such as E45 cream.
If you’re unsure about whether a product is flammable, you’ll need to check the label and failing that, do your own research.

5. Prepare Boxes With Packing Paper
Next, you will want to prepare boxes with packing paper.
To do this, scrunch balls of packing paper up and add them to the box until you’ve formed a layer at the bottom.
This will help to add another layer of protection and work to absorb some of the shock caused by the removal van.
6. Place Skincare Into The Boxes
Once the boxes have got a layer of packing paper in them, you can pack your skincare into the boxes.
Be careful not to overload your boxes, as too many products (particularly those containing glass jars) can make the boxes very heavy.
Additionally, you will want to fill any leftover space with more packing paper, as this will reduce the likelihood of your products becoming damaged in transit.
7. Label The Boxes
Lastly, you will need to label the boxes with ‘Fragile – Skincare’.
This will clearly indicate to your removal company that they need to take care when carrying your skincare and will ensure that you can easily locate them once they arrive in your new home.
