When packing up your home, you might be wondering how to pack your pantry to ensure all of your food is safe and secure before moving into a new house.
To pack a pantry when moving house, you will need to:

1. Sort Through Your Food
Before you begin packing your pantry up, you will first need to sort through your food.
Moving house is the perfect opportunity to get rid of any food that’s nearly finished, is nearing expiration, or has already expired.
Not only is there not much point in keeping near-empty bags of food, but they also pose a bigger risk of spilling during transit.
As such, you’ll need to go through all of your food items and get rid of any food that simply isn’t worth saving and dispose of each item in your food waste and recycle any packaging appropriately.

2. Pack A Bag Of Food Essentials
When it comes to moving house, you’ll want to ensure that you pack a bag of essential food items for the move.
This comes down to the fact that you’ll need access to basic essentials such as pasta and rice, as well as canned foods and snacks, to make quick and easy meals when you arrive at the new house.
This will make the process of moving house as manageable as possible, especially if you have children.
After all, you don’t want to be in a position where you have nothing in the new house that you can easily access to cook.
3. Secure Food In Containers With Tape
Next, you will need to secure any food in containers with tape.
Food items that are traditionally stored in bags, such as rice and oats, are at higher risk of splitting during the move if they’re not properly secured in a container.
As such, you should secure the bagged food in containers to ensure you don’t cause a mess within the box should a bag split during the moving process. Additionally, you will want to tape the boxes shut for an extra precaution.
It’s worth noting that if you intend to store any boxes in a storage unit, many removal companies won’t allow food due to food spoilage. 4. Wrap Glass Containers In Bubble Wrap
Next, you will need to wrap glass containers in bubble wrap to adequately protect them during transit.
This is important because glass containers are highly fragile and susceptible to breakage when they’re being transported from one place to another. This is also true of any other glass possessions you own in your pantry or kitchen, such as oil dispensers and spices kept in glass containers.
Breakages would not only leave you without your glass containers, but would also spoil your food with broken glass, so this is an essential step to carry out.
As such, it’s important to make sure you secure your bubble wrapped containers with tape before carefully placing them in the box.
5. Box Up Your Food Items
Last, but by no means least, you will need to box up your food items.
Whatever system you opt for when boxing up your food items, you will need to ensure that you’re being strategic about which food items go in which box.
For instance, due to their weight, tinned goods are better off in a box on their own, as opposed to being placed in a box with fragile glass containers, even if they have been bubble wrapped.
Remember to label your boxes with ‘Kitchen’ and ‘Fragile’ to indicate to your removal company where the boxes need to go in your new home.
If you intend to store any boxes in a storage unit, many removal companies won’t allow food due to food spoilage.
